The best cleaning solution is vinegar and water 50/50. Also squeegee after every use of the shower. Q: "Will ammonia-based products harm the hardware on my unit?"

A:

YES, ammonia-based products will harm your shower door hardware. Please do not use cleaning solutions that have acid or ammonia-based chemicals in them.

Q: "What are some ways that I can prevent soap and water from staining my glass? "

A:

Ordinary glass is prone to damage and aging from hard water, soap, humidity and more. But Shower Guard glass is extraordinary. It's an entirely different kind of glass that's protected during manufacturing with a patented ion beam process. This technology permanently seals the glass surface, for a shower that stays beautiful forever with just a minimal amount of cleaning. Also our Shower Guard, Clear Vista, Cardinal 10, Clear Shield and Tekon products. These coat the glass so that soap, hard-water, or calcium deposits do not permeate the surface of the glass. The protector covers the pores in the glass to keep the stains off.

Industry Tolerances and Defects

Cutting glass is a completely different process than cutting wood or other materials. Due to the fundamental nature of glass, the industry allows relatively generous tolerances. A piece of glass may be cut (larger or smaller) within the Standard Industry Tolerances.

Tolerances
  • Glass or Mirror 1/8" Thick:
    Tolerance-(+/- 1/32")
  • Glass or Mirror 1/4" Thick:
    Tolerance-(+ 1/16", -1/8")
  • Beveled Glass or Mirror up to 1/4" Thick:
    Tolerance-(+/- 1/16")
  • Glass or Mirror 3/8" Thick:
    Tolerance-(+/- 3/16")
  • Glass or Mirror 1/2" Thick:
    Tolerance-(+/- 1/4")
  • Glass or Mirror 3/4" Thick:
    Tolerance-(+/- 3/8")
  • Glass or Mirror cut to a pattern:
    Tolerance-(+/- 1/4")
Defects

All glass may contain flaws or blemishes which can be visible to the naked eye. Even the highest quality raw materials contain minor flaws. The federal government mandates that not defects should not be visible in the glass when it is viewed horizontally or vertically from 11 feet away, under normal lighting.
